If your CrossFit workout isn't part of your first class of the day, you're missing out on a lot of benefits. Even if you prefer a later exercise program, exercise for the first 30 or 45 minutes of your day and watch your health and productivity explode!
Morning exercise and healthy eating will take not only your CrossFit program, but your entire life to the next level! There's a reason the gym is open early in the morning. It opens up your schedule and jumpstarts your metabolism and energy for the day.
Many have tried a morning workout only to see it fizzle out within days or weeks. Kids, work, cold weather, etc. all seem to get in the way. Many people seem to think that morning exercise is only for those who have "no life" or a "better schedule."
Indeed, there are some people who just don't make it to the CrossFit gym in the morning. They may have heavy commitments, like kids at home or a gym that doesn't open that early.
Well, there are options for those who don't have the opportunity to go to the gym in the morning. You won't believe how much your day can change by getting up a little earlier and doing 20 minutes of "movement" before anything else. This can be an activity such as a short walk or light calisthenics. I know how tough a CrossFit athlete is, so before you say it won't do anything for you, remember that it's a supplement to your later training. This suggestion is for those who definitely cannot leave the gym early in the morning.
If your home life and gym hours allow, but you're not going to exercise first, you're doing yourself a disservice. We've all heard of willpower and habits. These are a few things that separate a CrossFit participant from the average athlete.
Having the willpower to start this morning ritual is essential to creating the change we're talking about. As with any new resolution, the first few days are full of optimism and energy. After a few days or weeks, they will hit roadblocks and the likelihood of your new habit spreading will be greatly reduced. This is where you have to constantly use your willpower to persevere, knowing that within 4-5 weeks this new habit will become a natural part of your day and your mind won't resist it.
